Choke Failure/Collapse
2010-12-09
For well flowlines,if choke collapses there will be an overpressure downstream the choke.I would like to know how many choke failure we have to consider at a time (may be one/two) and which standard refers regarding choke collapse requirement.
Only one. But, you need a back up for that one. We usually install a
choke and a monitor (a second choke) if the well can supply more
pressure than the downstream can with stand.
the monitor doesn't
have to be a choke (a globe valve) it can be a fail close valve like a
gate or ball valve with it's own control loop.
